Writing and Revising Compliance Programs
A client of The Catalyst Group requested a review and revision of their Confined Space Entry program in advance of opening a new manufacturing line at their facility. The Catalyst Group provided a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with an extensive background in program review and development to deliver this revision. The Catalyst Group provided a complete review and modification of their written documentation and also suggested ways to streamline their entry permit process to minimize production downtime and inefficiencies.
The client’s existing Confined Space Entry Program included several complexities – including different rescue requirements for different types of spaces. Although the process allowed greater latitude for on-site vs external rescue capabilities, the written process was confusing for those who had to implement it.
How We Helped
The Catalyst Group provided a review of the Confined Space Entry documentation including: 1. Written Program Development – The Catalyst Group simplified and revised the client’s existing written Confined Space Entry program. 2. Confined Space Permit Redesign – The Catalyst Group designed a customized confined space permit system that can be easily understood and implemented by supervisors, entrants, attendants and other members of an entry team. 3. Confined Space Inventory Process – The Catalyst Group recommended a Confined Space Inventory process which integrates a hazard and risk identification system to helps streamline the permitting process, the selection of atmospheric monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment.
The client now has a fully-implemented Confined Space Entry program that is easy to use, minimizes the time it takes to request and issue permits and improves the level of safety for the entry team.
