PEC Core Training

A client in the Oil & Gas industry was in need of PEC core training as part of their new employee-training package. Prior to our involvement, this client had a long-standing relationship with a different HSE training provider and had been recently experiencing quality issues. Given our presence in this space and reputation for high quality training, we were given the opportunity to conduct our first training ession with our client on a trial basis.

The Catalyst Group faced several challenges in delivering this training session with such short notice. First, we had to find a qualified PEC instructor with three days’ notice. Second, we had to find an instructor in close proximity to the client’s location in Oklahoma City to minimize cost. Finally, we had to ensure the training materials were delivered prior to the start of the training session.

1. Provided qualified instructors: In early 2013, the Catalyst HSE Group took a defined interest in delivering HSE training for Oil & Gas companies. Through a combined effort of The Catalyst Group’s employees we were able to compile a list of PEC training providers in the Oil & Gas industry and qualify them accordingly before our clients needed our services. The qualification process included geographic mapping of the instructors, reviewing resumes and compiling a list of rates and fees. When the client reached out to us with their immediate need we were able to contact the PEC provider of our choice and request a specific instructor. Because of this pre-planning, we saved time on finding the instructor and did not have to negotiate rates. The Catalyst Group was able to secure a contract within hours of the client’s request, which put them at ease. 2. Local resources: One of the client’s biggest concerns with delivering a training session with such short notice was cost management. We were able to work with our vendor who provided a geographically convenient instructor within driving distance which minimized travel cost associated with flights, hotel nights and day rates charged for travel days.

Our client has several locations across the across the United Sates which required all new employees receive PEC Core Training during the on-boarding process. At conclusion of the training session, the Catalyst Group conducted surveys, and communicated the results of the survey with the client. As a result of our work with this client, we are now on our way to becoming the provider of choice for a number of HSE services.
